The CSQE certification is intended for those who have a comprehensive knowledge of software quality development and implementation; have a total understanding of software testing, inspection, verification, validation; and can perform software development and maintenance processes and methods.

Eligibility to sit for the exam, aspirants must have a minimum of eight years of on-the-job experience in one or more of the fields of the Certified Software Quality Engineer body of knowledge. At least three years of this experience must be in a decision-making position.

As described in the body of knowledge for the CSQE exam, candidates are expected to have in-depth knowledge of conduct and standards; software inspection, testing, verification and validation, software quality management; software metrics, measurement and analytical methods; software processes; software project management; software audits; and the software form management.

Each CSQE certification aspirants is needed to pass a written examination consisting of multiple-choice questions that measure comprehension of the certificate’s body of knowledge.

Tips for Preparing for the CSQE Exam:

#1. Use the CSQE body of knowledge

Use the CSQE BoK as a checklist to concentrate your study. If you feel satisfied with a knowledge area, you can manage to study it less. If there are sections or terms in the CSQE BoK that you are not familiar with looking them up and consider them.

#3. Do Analysis

You can also use the results of this practice to properly focus your preparation by analyzing what questions you are taking wrong and their associated CSQE BoK area.

#4. Don’t Memorize

Don’t memorize things just for the CSQE test; look them up. If it is not useful to you on your job, don’t bother to learn it. If there is a question on the exam about something you don’t understand you can always look it up. It is especially valid for formulas. If you don’t use them daily, you may misremember them anyway. So look them up.

Tips When Taking the CSQE Exam:

1. Read each question carefully. There maybe one or two keywords that make all the difference.

2. Read all four answers carefully before you select an answer. One explanation may be right some of the time, but another reason may be right all of the time. Always look for the best solution.

3. There are 175 questions on the test so you only have 270-minute for answering the question and every question includes the same amount so SKIP and come back to any questions that.

4. As you answer each question check the question number against the number on the answer sheet to make sure you stay in sync

5. Don’t change your answer. Go with your first feels on the answer unless you have a good reason to change your mind. Many people talk themselves out of the correct answer when they do the practice exams then shift the response to the correct one.

If you are CSQE certified, you are expected to maintain the level of knowledge showed when you passed the CSQE certification exam. It is achieved by recertifying every three years, either through professional recertification units or retesting. If you do not recertify, your CSQE certification will lapse, and you will no longer be certified in membership records, society publications, directories, and personnel inquiries.

You must earn 18 recertification units within the three-year certification period.

Recertification units are granted for professional activities that either increase your knowledge in any of the fields of the defined Body of Knowledge or are job-enhancing.
