Employers need IT Professional with architecture skills, and having a TOGAF certification in an architecture framework can give you support up in the hiring process.

Growing Adoption of TOGAF

Adoption of TOGAF as more and more companies begin to recognize the benefits of an international standard to guide and structure their approach to EA. Participation will continue to rise as companies internalize the value of TOGAF.

Based on demand, the EA market is observing a TOGAF groundswell, with organizations mandating the framework.

The Popularity of TOGAF

The TOGAF Exam Details

  • If you choose to take the TOGAF exam, you will be sitting for the most recent version of the certification, TOGAF 9.
  • There is a multiple-choice exam for foundation level 1, which shows you know the basic concepts and principles behind TOGAF.
  • To make the certified level 2 exam, which is scenario-based, you will require a deeper knowledge of TOGAF.
  • You can either make the foundation exam before doing the certified exam or do a combined level 1 and 2 exams.
  • You have 60 minutes to make Part 1 of the exam and 90 minutes to finish Part 2.
  • If you live in one of the ESL Countries specified on the TOGAF site, take an additional 30 minutes for Part 1 and 30 minutes for Part 2.

How to Become TOGAF 9 Certified?

The TOGAF Standard is an open Enterprise Architecture from The Open Group. It is used by leading companies to improve business efficiency. As a Solutions Architect, it enables me to better align with the Enterprise Architecture of the organization, particularly when the organization adopted TOGAF as their architecture framework since that allows the different architects within the organization to use a regular expression language.

Becoming TOGAF 9 Certified wants you to pass both the TOGAF 9 Foundation Part 1 and TOGAF 9 Certified Part 2 exams. You can combine both exams, which needs you to take both exams at once.

Is It Worth It?

In the United States, the exams cost $320 each for level 1 and level 2, while the combined level 1 and level 2 exam costs $495. The Open Group gives four-day instructor-led courses, which can be pretty pricey at about $3,000; e-learning courses are also available for about $1,125, including exam vouchers.

TOGAF is always at the top of the most in-demand skills, with an above-average pay premium for IT professionals with a knowledge of the framework. There is not enough architecture talent, and so pay premiums are an interim solution to get and keep people with the skills. The certification remains to gain in market value, too.

The purpose of certification to TOGAF 9 Certified is to validate that, in addition to the knowledge and understanding of the TOGAF 9 Foundation, the Candidate can analyze and apply it. Therefore, the learning objectives are concentrated on application and analysis in addition to knowledge and comprehension.

Where to Look for a Job?

It is good to know that architecture roles are pretty plentiful if you are looking for a job. Your search is undoubtedly going to take you to larger organizations that are likely to use an EA framework like TOGAF.

An excellent place to start is to look for openings at companies with a large number of TOGAF certified architects since those are firms with a responsibility to it. Last year, according to the Open Group, the top 10 organizations with TOGAF certified IT professionals were BP, Capgemini, CGI, Cisco, Deloitte, HP, IBM, Oracle, Tata, and Wipro.

In today’s global and highly aggressive environment, businesses need to be flexible and quickly respond to changing market conditions irrespective of geographical boundaries, time zones, and organizational structures. The critical enabler, a well-defined TOGAF that supports the business’s needs, is highly dependent on the key employees, enterprise architects, and the necessary ability, experience, and skills.

BENEFITS OF ACHIEVING TOGAF CERTIFICATION

As a result, the demand for highly experienced practitioners is exploding. They must have proven competencies across various disciplines and apply their enterprise architecture expertise to decrease business risk, add value, and drive sustainable business change.
